CONNECTION TO COUNTRY DAY

Connection to Country Day 

Wednesday 4 December | 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM 

Connection To Country Day offers eligible delegates a unique and immersive experience to connect with Country, enjoy teachings and experience culture. Participants will join a group for the day to learn traditional practices and learn about the deep spiritual significance of the land and waterways. 

Tickets are included in Full Delegate Registration types, but are not included in Sponsor or Exhibition Registrations. 
Children tickets can be purchased separately | Adult guests can attend only if  registered as a Fully Attending Guest. 

Eligible delegates can select their group during the registration process. Group numbers are strictly limited. 

Activities are not interchangeable, the delegate must stay with their chosen group for the day. 


Group 1: Boomerang Making / Painting / Botanical Gardens Tour

10AM-12PM - Boomerang Making Workshop with Trevor Wanganeen 
1PM-3PM - Canvas Painting with Steven Warrior
4PM-6PM - Botanical Garden Tour with Jack Buckskin

This group will go offsite for a tour of the Botanical Gardens. Participants will be transported to/from the gardens by bus. The other two activities will take place at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

Group 2: Dance / Art Class / Boomerang Making

10AM-12PM - Dance Workshop with Cliffy Wilson
1PM-3PM - Aboriginal Art Classes with Southern Cultural Immersion
4PM-6PM - Boomerang Making Workshop with Trevor Wanganeen 

All activities for this group will take place at the Adelaide Convention Centre. 

Group 3: Botanical Gardens Tour / Dance / Weaving

10AM-12PM - Botanical Garden Tour with Jack Buckskin
1PM-3PM - Dance Workshop with Cliffy Wilson
4PM-6PM - Weaving Workshop with Micky Barlow

This group will go offsite for a tour of the Botanical Gardens. Participants will be transported to/from the gardens by bus. The other two activities will take place at the Adelaide Convention Centre. 

Group 4: Art Class / Weaving / River Torrens Tour

10AM-12PM - Aboriginal Art Classes with Southern Cultural Immersion
1PM-3PM - Weaving Workshop with Micky Barlow
4PM-6PM – River Torrens Tour with Frank Wangutya Wanganeen

This group will go offsite for a tour of the River Torrens. Participants will depart on foot as the tour will begin at the ACC. The other two activities will take place at the Adelaide Convention Centre. 

Group 5: Weaving / River Torrens Tour / Painting

Group 8: Tiwi Island Women's Choir - A Day Together

Spend the day with the Tiwi Strong Women as they share their experiences of caring for each other and for their children and grandchildren, following generations of cultural practice passed on through song, dance, art and oral history. Across the day they will lead you through the process of weaving their pandanus baskets and explain how that connects them with the seasons, with the Tiwi ceremonies and with the songlines that connect Tiwi people with their country. They’ll share some of their knowledge of traditional medicine and bushfoods and they would like to talk about how they have stayed strong in body and mind, looking after each other since we were young, learning from the ancestors who have sung and danced the stories before us.

This group will go offsite for a tour of the Warriparinga Wetlands. Participants will be transported to/from the wetlands by bus. The other two activities will take place at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
